Josh Shaw is a strongly-built seam bowler who began his career with his native Yorkshire but who has played most of his county cricket for Gloucestershire.
Josh is the son of another former Yorkshire seamer, Chris, and came through the county age groups and Academy at Headingley onto the senior staff.
He played for England Under-19s in a Youth Test series in South Africa in the winter of 2012/13 alongside future Test players Ben Duckett, Dom Sibley and Olly Stone and in the return series in England in 2014. Josh also played in 16 Youth ODIs.
His Yorkshire debut came against Durham at Headingley in the 2015 Blast but with a strong seam bowling department Josh joined Gloucestershire on loan for the 2016 season and made his first-class debut against Durham MCCU at Bristol.
A mid-season injury crisis saw Josh recalled by Yorkshire in June and he made his first County Championship appearance for them against Durham at the Riverside.
He ended the season back with Gloucestershire and finished the campaign with 41 first-class wickets to his name.
Josh began each of the next three seasons with Yorkshire before rejoining Gloucestershire for further loan spells before making his move permanent when he signed a three-year contract in August 2019.
Since joining Gloucestershire, Josh has become an integral part of their squad, particularly in white ball cricket.

He was a Vitality Blast winner in 2024 with his 19 wickets including a career-best three for 27 against Sussex at Bristol in the group stage.
Josh’s consecutive hauls of two for 16 against Warwickshire, one for 11 against Sussex and two for 20 against Somerset in the final were significant contributions to Gloucestershire’s impressive progress through the latter stages.
